Sadi Carnot
Born August 11, 1837 in Limoges and died June 25, 1894 in Lyon. He was President of the Republic from December 3, 1887 until his death. He completed his higher education at the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, then became an engineer in Haute-Savoie. Involved in politics with the Republican Party, he became deputy for Côte-d'Or, then prefect of Seine-Inférieure, under-secretary of state then minister of public works, as well as minister of finance. He is also Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies and Chairman of the Budget Committee.
