"Secretary In Walnut, Restoration Period - Mid-19th Century"
Secretaire from the Restoration period in Burl Walnut and Solid Walnut veneer equipped in the upper part with a frieze drawer opening by two notches below. This piece of furniture also offers a flap made up of four sheets of thick veneer developed in Burr Walnut. When opened, this flap upholstered in green leather with a gilded vignette and central motif reveals a tabernacle equipped in the upper part with a drawer followed by an opening with a recessed shelf and a set of drawers of different sizes. Note, two secret drawers are present at the ends and are unlocked by an interior mechanism. In the lower part of this secretary, two doors whose closure is walnut with lock on the original hook, reveal a shelf and a large drawer that can be locked. The plinth conceals another drawer fitted with four sheets of burl walnut also. On the top we find a single solid Walnut panel composed of a mitred frame. This furniture rests on clog feet.
