This model is n° 118a in the catalogue raisonné of Guy de Labretoigne and Ludovic de Villèle (2012). The first model was made in 1922. It represents a boar charging through the branches, belonging to a series of small bronzes, intended to be produced as radiator caps. Boars, roe deer, hares, horses, etc. are all depicted in characteristic attitudes. Léon Richard produced these "mascots" in silvered bronze, affixing the signature of Gaston d'Illiers to them, as well as the mention "deposé". Some bronzes were also produced with traditional patinas, such as this Charging Boar.
