"Late Nineteenth Bronze Bust Of Ariane F Barbedienne"
A French patinated bronze bust of Ariadne by F. Barbedienne. The beautiful “parcel reduction” is inspired by Bertel Thorvaldsen (circa 1805-1810). This unique bust is often associated with a famous antique bust of Antinous which is now in the Fitzwilliam Museum. Ariadne was a daughter of King Minos in Greek mythology who helped Thesues with her thread to escape from the Minotaur's labyrinth. It symbolizes resilience and personal growth.
