Nude With Cupids By Maria Szantho (1897-1998) This painting with an attractive nude and two cupids was executed in the 1920s-30s by the famous Hungarian painter Maria Szantho (1897 Szeged-1998 Nagymágocs). An object of desire for many collectors in Europe and the United States, the works of Hungarian painter Maria Szantho have been popular for almost a century. She was born in Szeged, Hungary in 1897 and studied in her native country under the tutelage of Kukan Geza. In 1924, the artist began to exhibit his paintings at the Mucsarnok salon in Budapest, mainly female nudes. Critics note that in her creative work Szantho was first influenced by Hungarian artists Lotz and Benczur, but later developed her own original style.
