Baroque Cupid Or Putto In Polychrome Carved Wood - 18th Century - Italy

Putto or Cupid in polychrome carved wood in Baroque style, work of the 18th century and probably Italian. He most certainly held the bow in his left hand, of which only part of the handle remains. His right hand evokes the position of the arm just after an arrow shot. To be compared with a 17th century sculpture sold at Osenat, sale on Sunday July 22, 2018 in Fontainebleau, lot n°30.

Condition report : good state of conservation, some small repaints and important repaints with golden paint on the gilding of the garment mainly in the lower half. Lack of the index finger of the right hand. Old localized traces of insect bites on the back.
