Mebzet (19th century) : “Still life with cat”, oil on panel 17 X 24 cm, mounted in a flat silver/golden stick 26 X 35 cm. Like its little sister that we are also presenting, this adorable painting with a naive charm, signed and probably dated and located (the varnish is peeling just on the signature!) presents utensils and dishes on an entablature where a cat has just leapt, attracted by the fish. The luxury of details with the skimmer placed across, the funnel on the bottle, cauldron and new onions is absolutely delightful.
