"Bronze Susse Brothers"
We present for sale this imposing bronze sculpture after the Diana of Gabies discovered in 1792 on the property of Prince Borghese. We are obviously talking about the original, it is traditionally attached to the sculptor Praxiteles. In 1807 Napoleon bought it from the prince due to financial difficulties. She would have liked to represent the goddess ARTEMIS. Let's come back to ours, it is a print made by the SUSSE brothers which is of good quality in the drapes and in the carving, it dates from the 19th century. The company was founded in 1758, they started the art foundry only in 1839. The SUSSE foundry still exists, it is now located in Malakoff. (E)
