"“dagobert” Curule Armchair In Solid Walnut – 1900"
This Dagobert armchair in solid walnut is inspired by the throne of King Dagobert of France in the year 630. It is reminiscent of the curule seats of the Romans and features Gothic style decorations with a Renaissance taste. This seat is characterized by an X-shaped base, in two elements in the lower part joined by a bar and a low crosspiece composed of scrolls and notched on the top. Its curved seat rests on wooden slats with moldings. The two armrests end in scrolls with carvings of acanthus leaves. These are crowned by a large volute decorated with a shell and a grimacing mask. Its openwork backrest accommodates a wide transverse band sculpted with scrolled foliage on a granite background. Very decorative, this armchair will delight lovers of unusual antiques. ******** Period: 1900 Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop. Waxed finish.
