Cast iron plaquette, the Flagellation of Christ after Moderno, 17th century
The Christ is tied to a column toped by a corinthian capital, with his right arm raised above his head and left arm in his back. On the right side, a naked man seen from behind takes momentum to strike the Christ with a whip he holds in right hand. On the left side, a helmeted roman soldier raises also a whip. Some other soldiers are sat down amongst helmets and shields. Six other soldiers stand in the background, one of whom is on a horse. Two naves constitute the scenery.
This plaquette is signed on the back by monogram in relief: " A.R. "
Very good condition, dark patina, a little lack of matter on top edge.
