"Bartolomeo Gennari - "omnia Vincit Amor" Oil Painting On Canvas"
The painting, "Omnia vincit amor et nos cedamus amori" or "Love triumphs over everything, let us abandon ourselves to love", a Latin phrase taken from a passage from Virgil, is an oil painting on canvas attributed to the painter BARTOLOMEO GENNARI (Cento 1594 - Bologna 1661) in a contemporary setting. Son of the painter Benedetto senior, he entered the Guercino studio at a very young age, which already belonged to his father, working with his brother Ercole, Lorenzo Gennari, Benedetto Zallone, Matteo Loves and Paolo Antonio Barbieri. In 1630, he replaced Lorenzo Gennari as store manager and always remained faithful to the style of the master. In 1632 he traveled to Modena with Guercino and Matteo Loves to paint the portraits of Duke Francesco I d'Este and Maria Farnese. From the thirties, he began a flourishing production of his own works, including the Marriage of the Virgin (1644, Modena, Galleria Estense) which testifies to his interest in the production of Guido Reni. He moved to Bologna in 1644 with the other members of the family and died there in 1661. 108x92 cm frame included cm.90x75 without frame For more information on the state of conservation, we invite our customers to contact us by phone or ask us for more photos, a certificate of historical authenticity will be issued to you.
