Object description :

"Cashmere Silk Rug, 250 X 336 Cm, Hand-knotted Silk Circa 1970, Kashmir, India"
I offer you today, this very beautiful hand-knotted silk cashmere in good condition is a large size; 250 cm wide by 336 cm in length.
The quality of these beautiful natural cashmere silks is no longer to be demonstrated, our particularly beautiful model, has a beautiful wear, well distributed.
One can only admire the work of the medallion and the abundance of motifs, birds, bouquets of wildflowers, arabesques covering this carpet and its borders. Originally from Srinagar, "the emerald city" so named because of its greenery, but its name, Srinagar means "The blissful city of beauty and knowledge" in the province of Jammu and Kashmir in the north of l 'India The colors of great softness.
The thickness of this carpet is 5 mm, which makes it a flexible piece but whose ground resistance is stiffened by the density of the knots.
This rug in natural silk on fine cotton, hand-knotted around 1970 is in good condition.
A slight general wear gives it a beautiful patina that enthusiasts appreciate.
The region of Srinagar in Kashmir is where these wonders are produced and where they were produced, silk on silk or silk on cotton.
Srinagar, the Venice of India, its carpets decorated with gardens, such as the Shalimar Gardens, its papier-mâché, and its colorful culture.
India and especially the Kashmir region is not a wool-producing country, hence the little use of this material.
Apart from the queen of wools the "Shatoosh", known all over the world and coming from an ibex in the mountains of Ladak.
The wool used in India comes almost mainly from imports.
The pieces from Kashmir are of irreproachable quality, knotted with first-rate materials as beautiful as in Iran and making them for many decades, an important competition.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
