"Half-moon Support Console In Marble And Golden Wood, Louis XVI - Mid-19th Century"
Magnificent console in gilded wood in the Louis XVI style, topped with white marble from Italy. This Carrara marble slightly veined with gray has a groove around it and two projections on the front that hug the piece of furniture. A wide carved belt with knockout is ornamented with scrolls in relief and a frieze. It is provided on each side with a rosette surmounting the two feet. From this meticulously sculpted belt reflecting the light, suspended garlands appear. Decorated with flowers and foliage, these refined garlands surround the console table in an elegant way. The set rests on two tapered legs embellished with acanthus leaves in the upper part and grooves decorated with asparagus. In the lower part, a concave spacer accommodates in its center a large oval urn with rectangular handles accompanied on either side by a generous garland of flowers and leaves. The spacer is supported by two turned legs forming a vase. This half-moon wall console has the charm of Louis XVI furniture and ideal proportions. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
