"Drawing By Théodore Ravanat (1812-1883)"
Study of a remarkable tree. Charcoal on Ingres bistre paper. Charcoal inscription "41" at the top right. Monogram of Théodore Ravanat at the bottom right accompanied by the collector's stamp of the Parisian collector and antique dealer Claudius de Jonge. The latter affixed the imprint of a stamp on the reverse certifying the attribution as well as an inventory number. Théodore Ravanat belongs to the landscape school of Dauphinois. He is the initiator of the meetings of Proveyzieux, artistic and cultural center like Barbizon. He was curator of the Museum and Director of the School of Drawing in Grenoble.
