"Attié Female Statuette / Ivory Coast - XXth Century"
To the east of Côte d'Ivoire, in the so-called "Lagunes" region, we can find a set of people and cultures with a deep artistic richness and similar statuary. Among these populations, the Attié stand out for their important festivities and ceremonies which made it possible to see many objects made of gold or covered with gold. Typical of the aesthetics in force in the statuary of this region, this characteristic position, with an element of furniture carried on the head, makes it possible to link this small statuette to the Attié productions. Note the scarifications on her belly, her prominent navel and the various details of the hairstyle.
