"Pair Of Modernist Armchairs In Solid Sycamore, Directoire Taste - 1940"
Elegant set of armchairs from the 1940s combining Modernism and Directoire style, newly upholstered in textured silk with geometric patterns. These two armchairs in painted sycamore have a curved backrest forming a trapezoid and a slight butt in the back. Armrests with rounded ends and carved with streaks, are covered in the center with cuffs. They rest on a wooden element with double turning. A narrow belt is embellished with sculpted angles reminiscent of the armrests. It rests on 4 tapered legs. These refined seats have a traditional upholstery seat with straps, springs and horsehair. The suspension is in perfect condition. A quality fabric, surrounded by double piping, dresses each armchair. Stylized alternating and textured shapes, black and gray, bring dynamism and character to these unique chairs. ******** Period: 1940 Traces of use in accordance with age and use.
