"Pair Of Important Cloisonné Enamel Vases, Japan - 19th Century"
Pair of large Japanese baluster vases made during the Meiji era. Designed in cloisonné enamels, these vases have a polychrome decoration representing the Japanese army made up of riders mounted on white horses and figures holding poles adorned with flags. They seem to be advancing on a stream lined with vegetation. This scene is completed in the upper and lower part by stylized motifs representing foliage and large flowers in white, blue and red colors. The neck and the base are provided with geometric ornamentations contrasting with the main decoration and highlighting it. These friezes use the same colorimetry. Each work has an engraved stamp in Japanese characters on the underside. These two vases impress with their size and powerful illustration of 19th century Japanese traditions. ********* Period: 19th century Delivery possible, in France and in Europe, by our partner specialized in the transport of furniture and works of art.
