"Dan Mask - Ivory Coast"
Dan society is governed by the use of many masks with different meanings. The aesthetics of these masks is therefore not fixed. In our case, this mask is a “Deangle”, possessing traits associated with Dan female beauty ideals. The rounded forehead with a very soft middle ridge as well as the characteristic shape of the circular eye holes allow this mask to be associated with Dan production. The finesse of the nose, ending in flared nostrils, as well as the half-open mouth with fleshy lips completes the assertion of this mask belonging to the Dan works.
