In the 19th century, these oils on cardboard are frequent, and over time they have become brittle and friable, the upper left corner is damaged Léon Germain Pelouse was born on October 1, 1838 in Pierrelaye (Seine-et-Oise) and died on 31 July 1891 in Paris (17th), is a French landscape painter from the School of Barbizon. He lives in Vaux de Cernay, whose sites inspire much of his work. The Rothschilds provide him with a workshop on their property. A gifted artist, he trained many students, he is recognized as the Master of the Colony of Landscape Painters in Cernay. In 1865, he made his debut at the Salon with "Environments of Précy, Oise, Soir d'automne", very early on he was successful and the State acquired several of his paintings. In 1878, he was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. He received a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889. Many museums keep his works.
