"Dish Kakiemon Deer Decor.japan Circa 1700."
Japanese porcelain dish, Arita late 17th early 18th around 1700, Kakiémon kilns. Simple, refined, very elegant decoration, representing a deer and its 2 hinds in polychrome enamels on snow white ground. It's the end of autumn, the maple leaves are there to signify it. The immaculate whiteness on which only the 3 fallow deer and the fallen leaves stand out leaves us pensive...wouldn't the artist have suggested a landscape entirely covered with the first snow? A Japanese mind would have thought of that. We believe that this type of purified Kakiemon was made for the Japanese market, with Europeans enjoying more ostentatious decorations at the time. Perfect firing. Excellent condition, except for some wears visible only with a magnifying glass.
Scuse my bad english.
