"Antique Victorian English Sailing Table 19th Century Period."
English Victorian central foot table in briar walnut with particular sail mechanism. The oval-shaped top has a thick walnut root in the center, while on the edge, enclosed between reserves in precious exotic wood, there is an alternation of rhombuses with micromosaic inlay.
The central trunk bearing a finely sculpted carving is supported by four cabriolet feet ending in volute leaves and curl resting on coeval porcelain wheels.
Historical notes: The term Victorian period indicates the reign of the great Queen Victoria, who ruled England from 1837 to 1901: a period of great changes and better living conditions, these seventy years were also characterized by greater rigor in every aspect of life, including furniture.
Thus was born the Victorian style, original and inimitable, which became the English style par excellence, distinctive of the new bourgeois class.
