"Porcelain Dish Landscape Decor In Cobalt Blue. China Qing Period"
Octagonal dish in Chinese porcelain, decoration in cobalt blue under glass representing an agricultural scene. In the foreground a buffalo with a particularly neat design. The dotted technique is used on all the patterns, it is a question of representing the reliefs by concentrating more or less the points as for the lithographs, which is a complicated and rare technique on porcelain. It took several thousand points to decorate this dish and the artist had to perfectly master the pressure of his brushstrokes because painting on a simply "smart" paste does not admit fault. We can admire this work on the enlarged photo of the dress of the buffalo. Chinese work around 1800 late 18° or early 19° made for export. The edges have many "nibbles" due to a detachment of the glass, which is typical of porcelain from the end of the 17th century and which is sometimes found later. It is not prohibitive. Otherwise good condition. No crack, only a superficial chip on the reverse, left dirty so that it is clearly visible. Wide: 38cm.
