We can admire in this unusual piece the balance of colors.
The velvet remains in good condition and is embellished with this beautiful patina that are these old carpets, this gallery therefore does not present any weakness in terms of the velvet and the weft.
The field colors found on these rugs are midnight blue, deep red and lime green.
# The border or the field of certain ancient Feraghans presents a curious effect due to manipulations of a mixture of a plant, a Persian euphorbia and copper sulphate which produces "wolf's milk" as it is called by the natives.
This mixture produces a corrosive effect on the pile of the carpet and suddenly the cream or lime color typical of these very old carpets.
This chemical reaction allows the decoration of the border to stand out in relief.
Feraghans have long been the favorite carpets of the English, with powerful and attractive colors.
The characteristic decoration was the herati motif with its rosette, diamond and curly leaves.
These rugs originate from the district of Feraghan, east of Arak, a region of a fertile plain in Iran.
Our model is in very good condition for its age, has the characteristics described above and is a very beautiful collector's rug.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
