"Cabinet In Roux Cherry, Louis XV Style, Vendée Region - 1st Part Nineteenth"
Cabinet in Roux Cherry in the Louis XV style, of Vendée origin. It opens, in the upper and lower part, with two slightly cut and partially molded doors. Each discovers two storage compartments, formed by the presence of shelves 53 cm deep, redone in ash and placed on fixed cleats. Between these two spaces are two drawers, equipped, as are the doors, with authentic ornate fittings and locks in working order with their respective original keys. Only the left drawer has a more artisanal blocking system with a wooden key. Under the molded Cornice we will appreciate the rectangular marquetry in Elm burl, framed by an Ebony fillet, itself inlaid with small bone squares. We find this same motif, in a smaller size, between the two drawers. The low crosspiece is embellished with a naive decoration of flowers filling a vase. It is molded on the front and on the sides. The set rests on two 'Snail' feet at the front and two straight feet at the back. Note the fine quality of wood of this cabinet, surprisingly little marked by the vestiges of time despite its two centuries of history. ******* Period: 1st part of the 19th century.
