Small Buddhist lion in cast bronze. Beautiful casting and neat scraper finish. The object is full, except for a small shallow cavity under the buttocks. Beautiful deep and precise engraving. The little beast is represented doing a quick and aggressive about-face. There are no traces of holes or tenons below which would indicate that this little lion was not the fretel of a lid. In addition the fretels are not of this quality. It's not a weight either because they're fate underneath. It must be Annam or southern China 19th century or earlier. Bears a beautiful patina which has been partially cleaned as shown in the photos. High: 6cm. Good condition, a little worn but all details intact.
