Consecrated Chalice And Its Paten In Silver - Circa 1940

Central piece of the Eucharistic celebration, this chalice was that of Abbot Robert Juron (born in 1919) who officiated in various parishes of the Rhône and in particular in Sainte Foy les Lyons, Mornant and Saint Martin en Haut. This chalice and its paten are in solid silver. they are the work of the goldsmith Lyonnais Memery et Cie, craftsman who settled in Lyon in 1930. In its original box, it has above all its certificate of consecration, dated June 17, 1943 and signed by Monsignor Bechetoille in his capacity as Vicar General. This polished silver chalice is structured around an imposing knot decorated in relief with thorns, reminding us, of course, of the Savior's sacrifice. "Operative" chalice, it was therefore the receptacle of transubstantiation, this great Christian Mystery constantly renewed.
