Gagliardini was first a pupil of the history painter Claude Soulary, then they entered the studio of Léon Cognet at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He then turned to figure painting. He made his debut at the 2008 cents 69 salon with portraits and genre scenes. They abandon historical subjects in favor of the landscape to which he devotes himself from the 100880s, mainly representing Dauvergne and southern sites, it is a favorite subject until the end of his life. He benefited from several purchases from the State (coup de midi, Provence 1880, plein midi, Auvergne 1891, in Venice 1913) and obtained an honorable mention in 1883, a third class medal in 1884, a second class medal in 1886 , a silver medal at the 1889 World's Fair and a gold medal at the 1900 World's Fair. He was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1893.
