- Polychrome engraving enhanced with watercolor representing a line infantry musician signed in the decor Édouard Détail (1848-1912) and
countersigned with the painter's initials E.D. in black pencil and dated 1855 and letters FS for facsimile.
- Jean Baptiste Édouard Detaille born in Paris on October 5, 1848 and died in Paris on December 23, 1912 at the age of 64 is an academic painter
French, specialist in military painting.
- A pupil of Jean Louis Ernest Meissonier, he entered Meissonier's studio at the age of 17.
- Meticulous Meissonier decides to teach Detaille himself.
- Meissonier had a major influence on his style and it was he who instilled in him an appreciation for accuracy, precision and attention to detail in
his paints.
- He exhibited for the first time at the salon of the society of French artists in 1867, Detaille received numerous awards at the salon of the society
French artists in 1869,1870,1872,1888 and Grand Prix at the universal exhibitions of 1889 and 1900.
