"Statuette - Mumuye / Nigeria"
The aesthetics of this statuette is geometric and slender, characteristic of Mumuye statuary. The body of the sculpture is, as is often the case, covered with zigzag patterns that could be compared to the lightning bolts depicted on the sticks of the rainmakers. Wood with a beautiful brown patina, nuanced between honey and burgundy hues. To date, no sure consensus has been reached on the usefulness of the Mumuye works. Thus, for some, these statuettes were linked to the art of divination.
