"Empire Period Clock With Putto On A Chariot"
An exceptional gilt bronze clock with its key representing a winged putto in an ancient chariot drawn by two doves on clouds. It rests on an oblong tray hemmed with water leaves raised by a vase containing the white enamel dial, with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, very finely chiselled with small pearls, palmettes and crosses. The movement is signed "Marie Prevost son in Toulouse". The vase is flanked by two storks with outstretched wings, admirably worked, holding flower garlands in their beaks and resting on a pedestal decorated with water leaves. A bow, arrows and two leafy branches decorate the front part of the base raised by four feet in the shape of a flattened ball. Revised original movement, in working condition.
