The two sunflowers Oil on canvas signed lower left, titled and dated on the back, 81 x 65 cm Pierre Théron, born in 1918 in Nérac and died on December 22, 2001 in Mérignac, is a painter, sculptor, mosaic artist, fresco artist, author of numerous cartoons of French Aubusson tapestries. His son, Dominique Théron, dedicated a short film to him, L'Été perdu, which won a César for best documentary short film in 1988. Pierre Théron studied at the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux, in the studio of René Buthaud and André Caverne. In 1942, he was received first in the entrance examination for the National School of Fine Arts in Paris where he followed the workshops of André Lhote and Jean Dupas. He will meet that year, Simone de Beauvoir. He then took refuge in the Tarn, under the Vichy regime. After the liberation, he returned to Paris, where he frequented Boris Vian, Roland Petit and Les Frères Jacques. In the 1970s, he designed a set of wall decorations, mosaic on the facade, tapestry inside, for the Maison du Paysan in Bordeaux.
