A fisherman, a couple, peasants become touches inscribed in a monumental and calm landscape in the style of the Barbizon School.
Signature in ink handwritten with a brush & dated on the back "Ch Suan 1851".
Dimensions with frame: Height 26.4 cm. Width 22cm. Dimensions without frame: Height 17 cm Width 12.8 cm Total framed weight: 470 & 466 g

State of preservation: very good condition for the paintings, the original frames are in good condition.

Biography: Charles Suan is a portrait painter from gender and landscape. Born in Saumur around 1810, died around 1879. Pupil of Picot he started at the Salon of 1836.
Jean Pierre Epinal dedicated an exhibition to him in 2014 bringing together 30 works including the painting of the Cantinière Joséphine Savarre known as Fifine exhibited in Le Mans Queen Berengaria Museum.
