"Chaleil Or Oil Lamp, In Brass. Auvergne XIX."
The caleil or calelh is a typically regional oil lamp. It was found in iron or brass. A strip of metal (sometimes worked like this) supported two superimposed containers. The pentagonal, removable upper bucket carried five oil-soaked wick spouts. The lower cup collected the excess of the combustion. Once lit, the lamp was suspended by its harpoon stem. Good condition. Authentic model, from the 19th century, Auvergne region. Height 48cm.
