Extremely rare pair of candlesticks or so-called "framed" candlesticks from the Louis XV period with the hallmarks of the City of Arras for the year 1731-1732 and the hallmark of the master goldsmith Pierre-François Joncqué (1690-1763). Pierre-François was the son, godson,brothe, nephew and father of thé Manu silversmiths of thé Jonqué family and even his wife was authorized to continue the workshop after his death until 1775. As a widow-silversmith, she even had her own hallmark. Their shop was on the corner of what is now Place du Théâtre and rue de la Caisse d'Épargne. Despite a long career, few works by his hand are known. The torches in question are quite typical for the period but are a little smaller (19.3 cm) than average, which could indicate that they were rather intended to light up a secretary, a desk or a dressing table. a large dining table.
