This exceptional carpet has an incredible field of great beauty covered with a decor teeming with animals, plants, objects and calligraphy. Highland wool on cotton weft, about 350,000 knots per M2, a real "eye-catcher".
In perfect condition, measuring 309 cm wide by 395 cm long, decorated with calligraphy in the name of Iskandar Persian name of "Alexander III of Macedonia The Great"
Khorassan or Khorasan carpets: hand-knotted carpets originating from the province of Khorassan, in the north -eastern Iran.
These tightly knotted carpets have a cotton warp and bear typically Persian decorations, such as medallions, palmettes, arabesques, and mir-e butha or herati motifs and may contain suras from the Koran, which is becoming increasingly rare.
The city of Kasmar (کاشمر) has a very long history and its old name is Torshiz.
The rugs are of very high quality and have been thickly woven for centuries with soft wool.
