Bronze subject with golden patina representing on a doe signed on the terrace Vidal l'Aveugle Louis Vidal said the blind man was born in Nimes on December 6, 1831 and died on May 9, 1892 in Paris. He studied anatomy but became blind in 1853, which prevented him from pursuing this path. He studied with animal sculptors Antoine Louis Barye and Pierre Louis Rouillard and himself became an animal sculptor by replacing sight with touch.
