"Bronze “the Prancing Horse” – Early 20th Century"
Important bronze with brown patina after Frederic Remington (1861-1909) American painter, draftsman and sculptor. This work depicts a rearing horse at the sight of a snake. The tension between the two animals makes the position of the unfortunate cowboy uncomfortable, even delicate. The rider, revolver in his belt, adorned with waders and a hat that he tries to keep on his head, clings desperately to his frightened mount. This scene suspended in time, retraces the great hours of the American Far West, and will particularly appeal to aficionados of an era marked by this "conquest of the West".
