Rare and moving albumen print showing a young woman standing in the studio. She carries her fiber hammock on her head.
A similar print, recorded in the old collections of the Ethnologisches Museum in Berlin, allows us to locate our photograph in the Demerara region of Guyana.
Our photograph is reproduced in the work of Rev. L. Crookall ,"British Guiana, or, Work and Wanderings among the Creoles and Coolies, the Africans and Indians of the Wild Country", London, 1898, p.292.
