"Small Jeweller's Balance, Trebuchet Type - 1900"
Small Balance Beam for Delicate Weighing, composed in the center of a vertical Brass Knife, topped with a graduated scale. The latter, associated with the needle located in the middle of the Flail, makes it possible to follow the movements and to determine the points of balance. This horizontal axis supports two stirrups equidistant, themselves provided with two trays with small handles inlaid with letters, all removable and in brass. The base of this weighing instrument is in Walnut. It opens with a drawer with a small finely molded pull button, revealing a compartmentalized space lined with weights. These bear the inscription 'A*B' and their masses range from 5 to 100 grams. This Decorative Element, in working order, is also supplied with two Cups with a tare of 10 grams, which allow us to affirm that this pretty Precision Balance was used to measure Gold. It will be noted that this Trebuchet is equipped with a device making it possible to manually actuate the lifting of the central axis, thus separating the plates from the support plane to place them in suspension. On the base has been preserved a metal plate, stamp of the Parisian manufacture to whom we owe this small Scale: 'Maison Besson and the Weighing Instruments united'. ******** Period: 1900 Perfect condition.
