"Small Work Table In Lacquered Wood, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Small work table from the Napoleon III period in lacquered wood, presenting on its so-called "bowl" top motifs of flowers, nets and scrolls, as well as a molding around its perimeter. The throat-shaped belt is also highlighted with light nets. The lid lifts, revealing on its underside an engraving depicting a rural scene, with a fisherman holding his catch and accompanied by two ladies. Able to be locked at will thanks to its original lock in working order accompanied by its key, this table offers a small interior space in blackened wood, initially dedicated to the storage of sewing utensils. The base consists of four so-called "chain" legs resting on a cut-out element underlined with light nets, resting on the ground on castors: this is united by a spacer with the same chain design. This small almost bicentenary work table will find its place in various decorations, and will seduce history lovers with its authenticity and solidity. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Good condition, visible traces of wear related to age and use, see photos.
