Fireback from the 18th century, dated 1705, in perfect condition, with the arms of Guillaume Bochard (t) de Champigny (~1650-1705), Doctor of Theology and Bishop of Valence from 1691 to his death or of his grand-grandfather. uncle François Bochart de Saron de Champigny (1633-1715), bishop of Clermont-Ferrand from 1692 to his death. The Bochart family, originally from Vezelay, in Burgundy, has been living in Ile-de-France since the end of the Middle Ages. She occupied a considerable rank in the French nobility of dress, a number of advisers and lawyers in the Parliament of Paris, Councilors of State. Jean V (? - 1630), great-grandfather of Guillaume, was, among other things, ambassador to Venice, comptroller general, superintendent of finances and appointed in 1626, first president of the parliament of Paris. Jean VII, his father, was an adviser to the Grand Council, master of requests and intendant of justice in Normandy. François Bochart de Champigny, Sgr of Saron, half-brother of Jean VI, adviser to the Grand Council, Councilor of State, intendant of justice in Provence in 1635, then in Dauphiné and in Lyon is the father of François, bishop of Clermont- Ferrand. The coat of arms is topped with a Count's crown, a miter and a crosier on either side and wearing a clergyman's hat with a cord of 10 tassels. Five fleur-de-lys, leveled during the Revolution, and two Comtois columns complete its decor. This plate was found in Vauvillers in Haute-Saône. Arms: azure with a gold or silver crescent surmounted by a reversed star of five gold rays. His weight is 86 kg. Our last photo: a token bearing the arms of François Bochart dated 1693.
