"Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) The Black Sun Lithograph Signed And Justified By The Artist 47/12"
Important original lithograph by Sonia Delaunay, famous French artist of Ukrainian origin, major figure in abstract art, whose lithographic work is highly rated and sought after. Edition signed in pencil and justified by the artist, limited to 125 copies. This is the 47/125. Note that a copy of the artist's proof of this print (EA V/XXV) was offered by Sonia Delaunay to the Center Pompidou in 1976, thus testifying to the importance of this print for the artist. Entitled “Le soleil noir”, this magnetic lithograph punctuated by rich and vibrant primary or complex colors, subtly arranged around a black hemisphere, recomposes the concentric motif so dear to Delaunay. Explicit motif of the sun here punctuated by broad vertical strokes of color breaking with the solar circle and its disc of light, while on the periphery of the colored work the pencil work completes the contouring of its shadow. A highly chromatic "black sun". A concentrate of light. The perfect synthesis of his art.
