St Roch, caring for the lepers encountered during his pilgrimages, caught the plague and isolated himself in a wood thinking he was going to die. He was saved by the Angel and the little dog who brought him bread every day.
The face of the Saint, imbued with a beautiful interiority, is treated in a very moving way.
So most of the representations of St Roch show him revealing the wound he has on his leg, here it is the Angel who discovers and touches the wound. 17th century work.
