The dedicatee: Francois-Ignace de BAGLION de SAILLANT Born 1632/34 in Lyon and died in Poitiers on January 26, 1698. Buried in the Chapel of the SS Apostles of the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre in Poitiers.
Coming from a noble family from Perugia (Umbria) Known since Pietro Baglioni in Lyon (1539), Son of Leonor, Baron de Jons, he was Maitre d'hotel near Louis XIII King. He renounces the world and enters the congregation of the Oratory on 5/7/1655. Became bishop of Tréguier in 1679 and of Poitiers in 1686... excellent orator and preacher... see his arms under the engraving in photo...
Dimensions = Diameter 18.5cm thickness: 5 or 6mm.
Condition: Die cut tin gnomon is not original, redone.
Two angles have the border redone, engraving is mediocre, but this is little visible. (See red arrows.)
