"Pair Of Consulate Cassolettes By Claude Galle."
Pair of reversible cassolettes in chiseled and gilded bronze with mercury and bronze with green patina. In the shape of a Medici vase with guilloché decoration and palmettes, the reversible lid is openwork with leafy grip and pinecone. It rests on a square base with friezes of striated beads and gadroons, flanked on the front by a framed cartouche and lion mask. Very beautiful period patina and mercury gilding with minor wear from use. High quality work from the consulate period, circa 1800, attributed to Claude Galle (1759-1815)
