Emmanuel BENNER (Mulhouse 1836 - Nantes 1896) Bust portrait of a pensive young woman with her head turned to the right Oil on canvas signed upper right (cleaning carried out in November 2022 with protective varnish) Chassis dimensions 8F or 46X38 cm Barbizon type frame in stucco golden format at sight 72X63 cm (some minor chips to report) Our artist first worked in Mulhouse as an industrial designer. Came to Paris, he was a pupil of Henner and Bonnat. After the war of 1870 he began to exhibit at the Paris Salon. He was promoted Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1896.
