"Important Gilt Bronze Fireplace Trim - Late Nineteenth"
Trim, in midnight blue earthenware and gilded bronze, consisting of a large clock and an important pair of candelabras with five sconces. The clock, in the shape of a covered vase, is decorated with stars and fleur-de-lis. It rests on a rectangular base, in gadrooned bronze, ending in four feet in acanthus leaves. In the center, the circular frame, with chiseled decoration of leaves, fruits and ribbons, presents a J.Henrichot Pontivy movement supplied with its key. On the sides, a lion's mouth covering and two pendants adorn this vase. This is topped with a sealed lid surmounted by acanthus leaves. Two large chandeliers, in the same spirit, accompany this clock. In midnight blue earthenware and gilded bronze, decorated identically, they have five sconces with chiselled scrolls. These rest on a collar, also worked, on a flared cylindrical shaft. Impressive in size and charisma, this fireplace set will particularly attract attention with its colors and ornamentation.
