"Bronze Of A Man Facing The Wind By Ae Carrier-belleuse - 2nd Part Of The Nineteenth"
Bronze with Brown Patina signed, on its base in the shape of rocks, 'Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse' (1824-1887). This Decorative Statuette represents a 'Man facing the Wind', using his right hand to protect his fine-featured face. The position of his legs, apart and slightly bent, also assists him in his fight. It is likely that the stick held in his other hand had the same function, although it was not resting on the ground. It will be specified that the latter is posterior to the rest of the Sculpture. The man, with a slender figure, is dressed in a shirt topped with a jacket, both open in the gusts of wind. His legs are molded in his Pants, leaving apparent the contracture of the muscles of his thighs. He wears high boots on his feet. The French artist, who benefited from the personal support of Napoleon III, was able in his work to bring out the power of the wind with which the protagonist finds himself confronted, by his disheveled hair and his scruffy clothes in particular. ******* Period: 2nd half of the 19th century Perfect condition.
