"Marc Perez (1955) Dove On A Wall"
Marc Perez is a French painter, engraver and sculptor, born in Tunis in 1955. Marc Perez, was born in Tunis, his grandfather is the painter and engraver Moses Levy. He learns the rudiments of his art with his uncle the painter Nello Levy. At the age of nine, he left Tunisia for France, and at the time of professional choice began studying medicine, as his father wished. He worked as an anesthesiologist until the mid-1980s, when he turned to painting, first with still lifes, perhaps inspired by the Italian artist Giorgio Morandi whom he admires1. In 1984, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne. For nearly 10 years, he perfected his technique, then the figures appear, evanescent and mysterious, in a range of muted colors of earth, ochre; colors of Africa. At the beginning of the 1990s, with heterogeneous fragments, he assembled three-dimensional characters, which, to his own surprise, seduced; thus are born the first sculptures.
