"Green And Red Enameled Porcelain Gyanyin."
Kuan-yin in iron red and copper green enameled porcelain. The green enamel has an unusual iridescent metallic appearance that seems to be specific to a time or a production site, unless it is due to the burial. The statuette is made in a mold in 2 parts, the joint is visible below. The unglazed parts, at least the base, were covered with lacquer and gold which disappeared leaving only traces (see photo). I enclose the photo of a Guan-Yin with a similar green dated from the 14th century which is kept at the Asian Art of San Francisco. Usual wear and tear. A hole underneath that appears to be a cooking accident. Good condition. H: about 7cm
